Consultation on a new Developer Contributions Plan for Byron Shire has been completed and the plan is set to be considered by the council.

The plan sets out the fees council collects from developers and the community projects that those funds will support.

During the consultation period, 10 community workshops were held and more than 350 comments informed the draft plan.

Byron Shire Council Acting Strategic Engineering Coordinator Kevin Craft said people were very keen to be involved and the feedback was important and constructive.

“After talking with the different groups and individuals we have made an allocation for shade trees across the Byron Shire and also included several new projects such as a shared path on McGettigans Lane and an upgrade of amenities in Bayside Park at Brunswick Heads,” Mr Craft said.

Byron Shire Council’s current Developer Contributions Plan was created in 2012 and updated in 2017.

Feedback from the community workshops and other consultation activities will be reviewed and a report recommending adoption of the plan will be prepared for the Council meeting on Thursday 18 June.
